Despite the many programs for teaching thinking to students and youth, their mental abilities in general are still weak, especially critical and creative thinking skills, decision-making and problem-solving.
Experts stress the urgent need to develop cognitive and mental abilities among young people at the present time, especially at early ages, to increase their ability to keep pace with global civilizational development in a rapidly changing and advancing world, with increasing human needs and the complexity of social, cultural, political and economic situations and circumstances in the Arab region.
In response to this urgent need, and in order to develop an integrated program to improve cognitive and mental abilities among adolescents, a team of our specialized experts conducted a comprehensive and in-depth review of all global programs and experiences in the field of teaching thinking, and found that the " Skillful Thinking" program launched by the American National Center for Teaching Thinking (NCTT) is the best program in terms of integration and comprehensiveness.
To verify the existence of real needs, the team conducted several studies that showed weaknesses in adolescents’ critical and creative thinking skills, decision-making and problem-solving. The team of experts then developed and improved this program to be more suitable for the Arab environment, and conducted a large number of studies in the Arab region to verify the extent to which the program is suitable for students in the adolescent stage.
After years of work and development, the program (Triple Thinking Model) was prepared in its final form, and was widely applied in different geographical and cultural areas in the Arab region. The results of implementing the program demonstrated significant progress in the thinking skills of students in middle schools, as well as adolescents outside educational institutions.
